Shinu Gupta, Founder & CEO
Mr. Gupta is the Chairman and CEO of Webnotions, parent company of A1books.com which he founded in 1995. Prior to founding Webnotions, he was a Technology Software Project Manager for Compact Software from 1988 through 1992. After that, Mr. Gupta was the Assistant Vice President for DKB Financial Products from 1993 through 1997.
In 1995, Mr. Gupta launched A1Books.com, an online book selling business, which he successfully grew since. He is accomplished in both technology and the book industry, with a total experience of 15 years. Some of his biggest achievements are that he has led several companies, including Webnotions, Inc. and Fountain Head, Inc. and has successfully launched and sold "eOrganizer", one of the first online calendaring systems to Mail.com.
Mr. Gupta has a Master's degree in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from IIT, India. He achieved Summa Cum Laude honors from both of these institutions.
Bobby Govilla, CFO
Mr. Govilla joined Webnotions after a successful career at the Dream Group where he was responsible for reporting on over 70 different P&L's. In addition to his duties as CFO of the group, he managed the entire buying and HR departments. He was responsible for the complete overhaul of their information systems and created an entire technology and transportation division that led to considerable savings. Mr. Govilla also raised over $3 million in debt financing that aided the company to achieve above average growth rates.
Prior to the Dream Group, Mr. Govilla ran the financial operations for one of the largest American teleconference companies. He was responsible for both the US and European operations of the company and spearheaded the company's initiative in Germany, when the deregulation of German Telco took place. He was responsible for raising over $1.5 million towards the cash flow needs of the company. He was one of the key members of the team that led to the successful sale of the company to one of the largest players in this segment.
Prior to this he was a Senior Associate at a large CPA firm, and worked in their review and taxation group before which he was a successful Chartered Accountant in India.
Ramesh Iravathan, CTO
Mr. Iravathan is responsible for having prototyped and developed many highly successful software programs and web-based applications by implementing various design patterns.
He led the team that developed the platform for A1Books. He is responsible for the integration of A1Books' back-end systems with various vendor platforms like Amazon, Half, eBay and payment gateways like Paypal.
Prior to Webnotions, he was a web architect with Quantum Business Solutions where he was involved in the development of a web-based contract management system. His primary responsibilities included architecting the system, designing and developing the application using Java technologies. He also built a web based calendaring system for Mail.com.
Prior to that Mr. Iravathan was the chief architect at MVP system for Bitfone. Bitfone's Mobile Variance Platform (MVP) is a standards-based, OTA (Over-The-Air) software management server for mobile phones. Mr. Iravathan has also developed various financial applications for Prudential's Intranet.
